We are in need of a couple of great people interested in working for a small non profit NGO here in Seattle, with roots in Ethiopia.  1) The Blue Nile Childrens Organization is in need of a seasoned Grant writter to help us secure funding for the Health Clinic that was just completed this past November.
2) We are also looking for a volunteer sponsor coordinator to help with mission trips, and logistics for Medical supply shipments and general office duties.  These volunteer positions will range from 8 to 10 hours per week, and you get to work with some very cool, and interesting people.  You will of course have the opportunity to visit the health clinic in Ethiopia to get a first hand look and feel of what we are doing.

MISSION

The mission of Blue Nile Children’s Organization (BNCO) is:

  • To address the needs of orphaned children in Ethiopia by providing a place of refuge – a place where they can live and become educated, healthy, productive members of their communities.

To holistically involve and include the community as solution partners in prevention of conditions that lead to more orphans, such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other afflictions.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF BLUE NILE CHILDREN’S ORGANIZATION

Currently, BNCO is working on two goals. The first is to provide for the more than 70 orphans that are under our care in Bahir Dar and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and to build our capacity to support more children in the future. Secondly, BNCO aims to improve health knowledge and access to disease prevention and treatment in the community where some of the sponsored children live.

In order to accomplish these short term goals, BNCO is focusing on the following objectives:

  • Increase the impact of our Sponsorship Program by building the capacity to take on new sponsors and children.
  • Increase health knowledge and use of disease prevention methods by offering educational programs in the community.
  • Increase access to health care by building a primary care clinic.
